About Kyle
Music has been a lifelong companion for me.
Born in Long Beach, California, and raised primarily in Sacramento, I grew up surrounded by a variety of experiences that would later influence both my life and my music. While my career path led me through aviation, technology, railroads, and engineering, music remained a constant creative outlet throughout the years.
My musical journey began with cello in elementary school, followed by piano and then alto saxophone, where I spent six years performing in school bands. During my high school years, I purchased my first guitar - a Yamaha FG-200 - with my first income tax refund. Since then, guitar has become my primary instrument and passion.
As a self-taught guitarist, I learned by listening carefully to the artists I admired, studying song structures, chord progressions, and melodies. Influences such as Led Zeppelin, Loggins & Messina, The Doobie Brothers, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer helped shape my musical foundation. Over time, I developed a style that is uniquely my own - one that relies heavily on fingerpicking, unusual chord voicings, and melodies discovered by ear rather than formal training.
The arrival of looping technology opened new creative doors for me, allowing compositions to evolve in ways I had never imagined. Encouraged by my wife Tracy and our children, Natalie, Brittany, and Blake, I began recording and sharing the many instrumental pieces I had written over the years.
My music took an important turn when film producer Rory Walsh approached me about composing material for an independent film project. The experience challenged me to explore deeper emotions and more cinematic themes. Since then, my compositions have evolved into a slower, more reflective style that listeners often describe as Contemporary Instrumental, New Age, Easy Listening, Spa, or Relaxation music.
Family has always been at the heart of my life and my music. One of my favorite traditions is composing a unique song for each grandchild, capturing their individual personalities and spirit in a musical portrait. These personal pieces remain some of the most meaningful works I’ve created.
Today, I continue to compose, record, and produce all of my music from my home studio. My goal is simple: to create instrumental music that is thoughtful, relaxing, and emotionally engaging - music that allows listeners to pause, reflect, and enjoy the moment.
